I came up with a couple of ideas and Simon was quick to agree so a nice easy decision and overall things went as planned.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZM6vrVJjchFMvAN9ofAySTUJqRr3jkcHNHYUu63KwoSv8csR7o9Arz7QaXD8kQogdpAQYl8TdlmYmmba9gu__kzeQrzBut28BOnaSq-ln6TOGONQel8N5VwBwR7ztL0sPSPHTj2P7jQvQJ6txBG98qbJisclZ-Hs6K6o9q-SI3syWEK0AUyVfTXrf_spE/s1228/DSCN7964.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1202" data-original-width="1228" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZM6vrVJjchFMvAN9ofAySTUJqRr3jkcHNHYUu63KwoSv8csR7o9Arz7QaXD8kQogdpAQYl8TdlmYmmba9gu__kzeQrzBut28BOnaSq-ln6TOGONQel8N5VwBwR7ztL0sPSPHTj2P7jQvQJ6txBG98qbJisclZ-Hs6K6o9q-SI3syWEK0AUyVfTXrf_spE/s320/DSCN7964.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">First up was the Dutch Nimbus. All my models were for Normandy and onwards. One thing that was a bit of a shocker was the colour of the kits plastic. White and electric blue. Good job I have some good primers.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">One of the best things about Matchbox kits is that they come with a little mini diorama so that I can build the kit and have something to base them on. If all goes well with this one I will buy more as time goes on and look to sell them between £25 and £30 for most based on actual cost of the kits as they can be rather expensive. I have also heard that the decals tend not to be useable so the added cost of replacements has to be taken into account. However they should be fairly easy to post out.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Queue jumping? It's possible but I do have several pieces that can not be passed over on the go at the moment. Two mini dio's for Novembers annual ASL Tournament at Blackpool, Bounding First Fire. Unlike the previous years the dio's will be scaled down. This years theme is Allied Minors so we have a Dutch and Polish base to work on. I have finished the Dutch model and just need to do the base whilst the Polish figures arrived today.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">I have also built the final figure for my 1/35 scale Tiger dio and hope to start painting the last two figures soon whilst working on the Poles.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Once that is done I hope to carry on with my Ice Cold in Alex mini dio but at this point maybe a T34 might also get into the action.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p>Ianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17113835961977211021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329903841574816313.post-4992563234033071302023-08-20T17:36:00.001+01:002023-08-20T17:36:12.465+01:00SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich Bust (SOLD)<p style="text-align: justify;"> Another bust that was picked because it would give me more practice at creating leather effects. I mixed the sensible green of the cloak to fade into the wilds with a strong blue to give a bit of punch. Both colours are rich so as to give the bust some life and pull the eye. It's a 90mm (figure size) <a href="https://www.mitchesmilitarymodels.co.uk/">Mitches Military Models</a> piece, currently not available but they do plenty more of this type of kit.The kit is the three figures, and the wall/table/barrel and base parts, cast in resin. The figures as you would expect are multipart and needed a little less than average cleanup though I broke most of the musket straps cleaning them up. These I replaced with cut strips from a pop can.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrVrcJCBUGBryaeNy6W-8j9XEFc0Kt2cNMzAPAawroXnMYzbhHsKwe0WgPaF725xYDRkeBibx_9n3lNfsL2V1JAmPm8I6z1rkpfNScQOdw2YROA5BaEdVrO_LNhBhk9b8ocO0PWeweoCmI5Aj-Rk4BTsuW94aLWnnXbi7zZqxoqRMpb4oMVwbBoeqlg/s1447/DSCN7888.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1260" data-original-width="1447" height="355" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrVrcJCBUGBryaeNy6W-8j9XEFc0Kt2cNMzAPAawroXnMYzbhHsKwe0WgPaF725xYDRkeBibx_9n3lNfsL2V1JAmPm8I6z1rkpfNScQOdw2YROA5BaEdVrO_LNhBhk9b8ocO0PWeweoCmI5Aj-Rk4BTsuW94aLWnnXbi7zZqxoqRMpb4oMVwbBoeqlg/w407-h355/DSCN7888.JPG" width="407" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I painted the wall with oils using the same process I used on the Bren Carrier dio that I will load up at a later date. I have not played a lot of figure games since I last posted and most of what I have painted has been either not wargames related or it's just more of the same. As such I have decided rather than ignoring it totally I would instead devote it to what I build and paint. As such you will get to see progress of various projects and of course final finishes, what you won't get will be the battle reports I have neglected for well over a year.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">So a quick run around the workbench is is order. </p><b>1/35 scale Tiger Dio</b><div><b><br /></b><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoR42Cz887xQTLURSsLQbcQ1oftHNeLMeEox9LKnY7KaPLRphkKi92CUyXEowqLQz7JAcyNF3RhC8lds1BP8am5rePK7HfzRaKp5N88Gid3jPcZYFxFiiDGu62ZdIbwiu-IWEgG4s17B2MRtzViqC6tJdTQYCGTSYYr3RLnqT-f_IOmXBELZtSGZj4lw/s2272/DSCN7361.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1704" data-original-width="2272" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoR42Cz887xQTLURSsLQbcQ1oftHNeLMeEox9LKnY7KaPLRphkKi92CUyXEowqLQz7JAcyNF3RhC8lds1BP8am5rePK7HfzRaKp5N88Gid3jPcZYFxFiiDGu62ZdIbwiu-IWEgG4s17B2MRtzViqC6tJdTQYCGTSYYr3RLnqT-f_IOmXBELZtSGZj4lw/w421-h316/DSCN7361.JPG" width="421" /></a></div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Well over a year ago I started this dio. Yellow seemed the best solution as it's neither creepy or out of place and besides I have the new paint set that I have only used for small areas. The pale or baby blue works for me so I went with it. It has to be said Cath was not a big fan of the choices but we don't always agree on such things.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O7jGMygINZg/YSk_hoi4b1I/AAAAAAAAUg8/tkhIDE2ANz49MIysfJEcbSKXF2CYirwqwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1240/DSCN7373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1240" data-original-width="931" height="439" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O7jGMygINZg/YSk_hoi4b1I/AAAAAAAAUg8/tkhIDE2ANz49MIysfJEcbSKXF2CYirwqwCNcBGAsYHQ/w329-h439/DSCN7373.JPG" width="329" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I added the blood to the base and some on the figure to try and add a bit of freaky to it. A big part of why I used the backdrop (mix of airbrush paints and cleaner that I thought was a bit dark). The figure comes with the option of a open wardrobe with arms reaching out of it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-knD4TUnpiVc/YSlANJr1gVI/AAAAAAAAUhE/P4LMG4HuxX8elx3AOluPYXw7oPU6GFC8wCNcBGAsYHQ/s1369/DSCN7378.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1369" data-original-width="893" height="473" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-knD4TUnpiVc/YSlANJr1gVI/AAAAAAAAUhE/P4LMG4HuxX8elx3AOluPYXw7oPU6GFC8wCNcBGAsYHQ/w309-h473/DSCN7378.JPG" width="309" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The blood is also on the girls hand, dress and the bunny's paw and lip. So the question is which one? or maybe both, but either way little Timmy ain't coming out to play.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A7QFTm-YWic/YSlAl8aNd2I/AAAAAAAAUhM/zwHz_NyHQ1gQqDlWlGHNz9ZXfvlvVLXCACNcBGAsYHQ/s587/DSCN7379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="587" data-original-width="529" height="449" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A7QFTm-YWic/YSlAl8aNd2I/AAAAAAAAUhM/zwHz_NyHQ1gQqDlWlGHNz9ZXfvlvVLXCACNcBGAsYHQ/w404-h449/DSCN7379.JPG" width="404" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">So a figure that was just bought to paint with no actual use or design. Just nice to paint something just because. I have another 3D set to paint based on the Pied Piper, that will have to wait for the time being as I start the commission work and insert bits to keep me motivated. I will have however a few more games to report as I continue to play with Matt and have started to go to a games club in Chesterfield.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p></div>Ianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17113835961977211021noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329903841574816313.post-14179204591509917372021-08-04T20:35:00.009+01:002021-08-04T20:35:57.934+01:00Tiger 1 Build Update 2<p style="text-align: justify;"> Since the original post I have managed to build up the Tiger to the point it will receive it's base coat. The Photo Etched has been a huge learning curve that has tested me quite a lot.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E4e5tfHcSi8/YQrlEc5AXWI/AAAAAAAAUd0/z-VNq-Mg0dMw8FXBS6AM0DiTisPU2GeFgCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DSCN7318.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="310" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E4e5tfHcSi8/YQrlEc5AXWI/AAAAAAAAUd0/z-VNq-Mg0dMw8FXBS6AM0DiTisPU2GeFgCNcBGAsYHQ/w413-h310/DSCN7318.JPG" width="413" /></a></div>The interior of the hatches have all had a big upgrade with multiple parts with up to six bends to a single piece. Front mud guards were less tricky but still full of challengers.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KpMeFMSQqMA/YQrlqDKL3JI/AAAAAAAAUd8/twf9LoY0Dss7gzxaFoeIbzboogySd5BxwCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DSCN7320.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="283" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KpMeFMSQqMA/YQrlqDKL3JI/AAAAAAAAUd8/twf9LoY0Dss7gzxaFoeIbzboogySd5BxwCNcBGAsYHQ/w377-h283/DSCN7320.JPG" width="377" /></a></div>Less bends on the righthand turret hatch but the small catch is actually three parts! The crew will be all over the hatch areas so I felt I should add the detail and now wait to find out how much is hidden by the figures!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QysvIjcVDmU/YQrma1LnVLI/AAAAAAAAUeE/AYEszoz9xZsyffuC_HYYo2qanRqKY6S1wCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DSCN7324.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="321" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QysvIjcVDmU/YQrma1LnVLI/AAAAAAAAUeE/AYEszoz9xZsyffuC_HYYo2qanRqKY6S1wCNcBGAsYHQ/w428-h321/DSCN7324.JPG" width="428" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">View of the rear of the turret, a lot of the PE requires the original details to be filed off the model to be replaced with the brass parts. I have in plenty of cases felt the added detail was not worth the extra work. I am giving myself a window of three months to build the kit and assemble the rest of the dio. I have added the Voyager Models PE kit that really ramps up the complexity and of course detail. I also ordered a metal barrel on a friends recommendation. So far resisting the metal tracks but if I struggle with the plastic ones from realism then I will probably go metal. Rather not as that will help ramp up the costs above what I probably can sell it for. The figures are mostly plastic with at least one will be resin, all depends on if I can get more figures that fit with the scene I am planning.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jQ1TmSmwSUE/YNd5OieuSoI/AAAAAAAAUVU/scFSyr3Va-YF4Mlj3dI98T52XgDwAkCUACNcBGAsYHQ/s1937/PE%2Bmadness.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1460" data-original-width="1937" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jQ1TmSmwSUE/YNd5OieuSoI/AAAAAAAAUVU/scFSyr3Va-YF4Mlj3dI98T52XgDwAkCUACNcBGAsYHQ/w425-h320/PE%2Bmadness.JPG" width="425" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Some of the detail is insane, love the hatch parts, these will be late added items I suspect. However with games just around the corner maybe just maybe more of a mix of subjects. However I will soon be starting to post about my next diorama this being a 1/32 scale Tiger I that I have mentioned before. <p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Still not wargame related really is this FeR miniatures 1/16th resin bust. It's just 4cm tall between top of the beret and bottom of the Denison jacket. Total height including the plinth is 7cm so quite a small chap.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RZPFhh7qXNs/YNTlM65e1gI/AAAAAAAAUTU/glLN2eRhWTUMOGr8NVqjILwhC_LI15pHwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1573/9%2Bpara%2Bside%2Brear%2Blong.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1573" data-original-width="1013" height="407" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RZPFhh7qXNs/YNTlM65e1gI/AAAAAAAAUTU/glLN2eRhWTUMOGr8NVqjILwhC_LI15pHwCNcBGAsYHQ/w262-h407/9%2Bpara%2Bside%2Brear%2Blong.JPG" width="262" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The quality of the casting is superb, loads of detail and a joy to work with. The only drawback really is the cost, set against the price of full size busts it seems rather pricy but has the advantage of not taking up too much room.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfLFvcn3vUo/YNTlwqadi-I/AAAAAAAAUTg/MqAzPT0OPR4lhf-72pzQGgEiugE10UHtQCNcBGAsYHQ/s775/1%2BPara%2Bfront%2Bclose.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="742" data-original-width="775" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfLFvcn3vUo/YNTlwqadi-I/AAAAAAAAUTg/MqAzPT0OPR4lhf-72pzQGgEiugE10UHtQCNcBGAsYHQ/s320/1%2BPara%2Bfront%2Bclose.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I mostly used Andrea paint sets which are lovely paints. This bust is supplied by <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheWonderEmporiumGB?ref=l2-about-shopname" target="_blank">The Wonder Emporium UK</a> I went for the 75mm tall one and would have loved to have gone for the larger one. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qajjaSbwvgo/YHMwJzX_M4I/AAAAAAAAULs/tzq5-CFNzOoiklGTuBC2ArzWoKa-ATYKACNcBGAsYHQ/s477/1%2BJoker%2Band%2Bthe%2Bthief.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="477" data-original-width="447" height="432" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qajjaSbwvgo/YHMwJzX_M4I/AAAAAAAAULs/tzq5-CFNzOoiklGTuBC2ArzWoKa-ATYKACNcBGAsYHQ/w405-h432/1%2BJoker%2Band%2Bthe%2Bthief.JPG" width="405" /></a></div>Very little clean up work required as this is done before sending out. 3D printing has certainly made leaps forward. Plenty of detail and bags of character.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WqyhPsY2KcQ/YHMwlo_7AOI/AAAAAAAAUL0/Y0LUZ1RXPdYx1qCYlDVcDS7tufXtJXlYgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1218/3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1218" data-original-width="785" height="474" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WqyhPsY2KcQ/YHMwlo_7AOI/AAAAAAAAUL0/Y0LUZ1RXPdYx1qCYlDVcDS7tufXtJXlYgCNcBGAsYHQ/w305-h474/3.JPG" width="305" /></a></div>Even the back of the bust has nice detail. I have added a small plinth as it seems like it needed that bit more to set it off. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bd6CceY2SJc/YHMw8r_vT1I/AAAAAAAAUL8/SA65kLm6Bzw86CRHhMB3FO1j5HURuvR6gCNcBGAsYHQ/s1126/5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1126" data-original-width="658" height="452" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bd6CceY2SJc/YHMw8r_vT1I/AAAAAAAAUL8/SA65kLm6Bzw86CRHhMB3FO1j5HURuvR6gCNcBGAsYHQ/w264-h452/5.JPG" width="264" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I really like the monkey, the sculptor for me got the balance right and he shows life in himself. The jester for me seems rather sad so the lively monkey is his Yang.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u8hiPpevHwQ/YHMxdzkLIrI/AAAAAAAAUME/4ME1CYMJQ6gqp4Oo3YRTTnVcyCE0DCLTQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1011/6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1011" data-original-width="567" height="526" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u8hiPpevHwQ/YHMxdzkLIrI/AAAAAAAAUME/4ME1CYMJQ6gqp4Oo3YRTTnVcyCE0DCLTQCNcBGAsYHQ/w294-h526/6.JPG" width="294" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I choose yellow as much because I wanted to use the Andrea yellow set on something much bigger than it had been used to this point with yellow being a tricky colour to work with. Painted over a dark grey primer.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XY781r0VKac/YHMx9nIAAQI/AAAAAAAAUMM/bokbeHV2NmMBN-53aXqJNWeZa_bL1X5KgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1207/7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1207" data-original-width="795" height="508" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XY781r0VKac/YHMx9nIAAQI/AAAAAAAAUMM/bokbeHV2NmMBN-53aXqJNWeZa_bL1X5KgCNcBGAsYHQ/w335-h508/7.JPG" width="335" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Cath thought I should go blue red but as I said I wanted to try the yellow and I think it worked with the green, this time a Scale75 paint set given to me by Dave D. what a gentleman.</div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p></div></div></div></div>Ianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17113835961977211021noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329903841574816313.post-17138328507918573092021-04-06T19:31:00.004+01:002021-04-06T19:31:29.949+01:006mm Prussian Landwehr by Adler<p style="text-align: justify;"> With most of my painting time now used for none wargaming projects it was nice to take a step back into an old project and paint up some more Prussians for my 100 Days Prussian Army. I say 100 Days as these did not even show up at Waterloo as I have all those already painted.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--IvwP_4q0kI/YGyfcAsVUXI/AAAAAAAAUK8/oemL2rMLBKkm_A_NdZsWnz_RERlpnoImwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1813/DSCN6978.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="984" data-original-width="1813" height="297" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--IvwP_4q0kI/YGyfcAsVUXI/AAAAAAAAUK8/oemL2rMLBKkm_A_NdZsWnz_RERlpnoImwCNcBGAsYHQ/w546-h297/DSCN6978.JPG" width="546" /></a></div>As per most of my Landwehr we have Baccus skirmishers and Adler for the main body. A few of the bases also have mounted generals to add interest.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GCY2VPnEH5M/YGyi1YB-54I/AAAAAAAAULE/3QhBPOJOA5ElJhVtC_IxTpyI_X9yrWpagCNcBGAsYHQ/s2008/DSCN6975.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="810" data-original-width="2008" height="221" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GCY2VPnEH5M/YGyi1YB-54I/AAAAAAAAULE/3QhBPOJOA5ElJhVtC_IxTpyI_X9yrWpagCNcBGAsYHQ/w546-h221/DSCN6975.JPG" width="546" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Three battalions leading the way, 4th Westphalia 1st Corp Second Brigade, only nine battalions of the Corp made a showing at Waterloo, though some cavalry and guns did. Of the infantry I only have nine reserve and three Landwehr battalions to complete the infantry as well as a regiment of cavalry and two guns then one Corp is fully finished. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nHAxyW00Bj4/YGylFZ1bpzI/AAAAAAAAULM/DSh8YrDGE-YLBWYzFU8MLwEbgzDcbB-twCNcBGAsYHQ/s2041/DSCN6977.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="979" data-original-width="2041" height="245" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nHAxyW00Bj4/YGylFZ1bpzI/AAAAAAAAULM/DSh8YrDGE-YLBWYzFU8MLwEbgzDcbB-twCNcBGAsYHQ/w512-h245/DSCN6977.JPG" width="512" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The 4th Corp just needs four cavalry regiments painting to be finished but that's because most of that Corp was at Waterloo. I have the figures to do most of the remaining units to have the lot painted up. The fact I will never need all these units for any battle remains a mute point now. Given the amount of money needed to get all the units I don't have I simply don't see the point of not doing them all.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K1YnCyHE2_0/YGymEaXe7WI/AAAAAAAAULU/JCuPgSUDbqcVfsEgY-3UhoKIElmXcKCVACNcBGAsYHQ/s2126/DSCN6989.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="644" data-original-width="2126" height="173" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K1YnCyHE2_0/YGymEaXe7WI/AAAAAAAAULU/JCuPgSUDbqcVfsEgY-3UhoKIElmXcKCVACNcBGAsYHQ/w571-h173/DSCN6989.JPG" width="571" /></a></div>The 3rd Elbe Landwehr regiment from the second Corp, 8th Brigade. This needs six battalions of Reserve Infantry three regiments of cavalry and four guns (2 batteries) to complete. Third Corp is the one needing the most work with 21 battalions of Reserve or Landwehr infantry six regiments of cavalry and six guns including a horse battery. These will probably be the ones finished last, well unless Lee suddenly wants to fight a battle that these were in!!!<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bZphYKacW5U/YGynXg3ZjuI/AAAAAAAAULc/tSlsSFwtpqMMGRRBhQRWj5yEcRpHL9q9gCNcBGAsYHQ/s1820/DSCN6984.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1156" data-original-width="1820" height="348" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bZphYKacW5U/YGynXg3ZjuI/AAAAAAAAULc/tSlsSFwtpqMMGRRBhQRWj5yEcRpHL9q9gCNcBGAsYHQ/w548-h348/DSCN6984.JPG" width="548" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I know it's kind of pointless painting up all these battalions when in many of the cases I can just sub a different battalion without much chance of being pulled up for using the wrong battalion based on collar or cuff being wrong but at least I can fantasise about using them all in a sweeping campaign.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3lXHp2AiTcI/YGyoNZpebaI/AAAAAAAAULk/_UP2M5-lk0sXBen7gQu9r8WdnIn3qGdtACNcBGAsYHQ/s1457/DSCN6976.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="1457" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3lXHp2AiTcI/YGyoNZpebaI/AAAAAAAAULk/_UP2M5-lk0sXBen7gQu9r8WdnIn3qGdtACNcBGAsYHQ/s320/DSCN6976.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I also painted up a couple more command bases. At some point I need to check how many I have so to make sure I can supply enough for any battle. Our rule system requires a fair few. Next up for this army is a couple of cavalry regiments but they are being bumped down the list as other projects need work doing on them.<br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><br /><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p></div></div>Ianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17113835961977211021noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329903841574816313.post-2818469780282993752021-04-01T14:30:00.008+01:002023-05-29T21:34:59.500+01:0088th Foot Connaught Rangers Bust SOLD<p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9wxf-dH5PGQ/YGXHQOSZyAI/AAAAAAAAUKU/nN-DKOH93f4JbWxNVhX1xD-Yb-0lEmLbQCNcBGAsYHQ/s860/2%2B88th%2Bfoot%2Bclose%2Bup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="860" data-original-width="566" height="419" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9wxf-dH5PGQ/YGXHQOSZyAI/AAAAAAAAUKU/nN-DKOH93f4JbWxNVhX1xD-Yb-0lEmLbQCNcBGAsYHQ/w276-h419/2%2B88th%2Bfoot%2Bclose%2Bup.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>This is the second Stormtrooper bust I have painted up but this time it's a new release. Three piece kit, the bust, the pipe and the plume, not a great deal of work to clean up, most of it was on the cloth under the shako. I wanted to do sunburnt skin and faded clothes but in the end chickened out.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8EbYfc_Lbhg/YGXH3zWJnBI/AAAAAAAAUKc/ywz9CaexFG8Bh-9T3eNcUDDN9gRr4xYiwCNcBGAsYHQ/s2052/1%2B88th%2Bfoot%2Bfront.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2052" data-original-width="899" height="615" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8EbYfc_Lbhg/YGXH3zWJnBI/AAAAAAAAUKc/ywz9CaexFG8Bh-9T3eNcUDDN9gRr4xYiwCNcBGAsYHQ/w269-h615/1%2B88th%2Bfoot%2Bfront.JPG" width="269" /></a></div>The usual wooden plinth and brass rod I tend to use on Napoleonic busts though this time I polished the rod. Oh the fun of owning a dremel. I seem to be getting the hang of the Andrea flesh set, even though I still dodged the sun burn. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QPEHAUjpg-g/YGXIgOhBlTI/AAAAAAAAUKk/EHAGU7HzwvIoNS7gtSP8CcXr74TjrmzfQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1057/3%2Bclose%2Bup%2Bback.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1057" data-original-width="786" height="516" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QPEHAUjpg-g/YGXIgOhBlTI/AAAAAAAAUKk/EHAGU7HzwvIoNS7gtSP8CcXr74TjrmzfQCNcBGAsYHQ/w384-h516/3%2Bclose%2Bup%2Bback.JPG" width="384" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I was disappointed with the washed out image of the cloth covering the back of his head, it's quite a subtle blend of colours, still need to practice with the light tent, dimmer setting next time.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uIIl5nUtj5Q/YGXJTAwK_ZI/AAAAAAAAUKs/GmZpj2Z5W7ccZ4IX588Zcf7HiMrt0mfTwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1782/5%2Bclose%2Bside.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1782" data-original-width="963" height="670" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uIIl5nUtj5Q/YGXJTAwK_ZI/AAAAAAAAUKs/GmZpj2Z5W7ccZ4IX588Zcf7HiMrt0mfTwCNcBGAsYHQ/w362-h670/5%2Bclose%2Bside.JPG" width="362" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The shako came out fairly well especially the brass plate that I inked and then touched back up. These are unfortunately one piece prints so was quite cumbersome and created a few challenges when it came to painting some areas part blocked by arm's swords or staffs etc etc etc.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0TmECDO55C0/YEqB9hrSPLI/AAAAAAAAUGI/nrgtJHfQqFEbn3DAFVswX-J1eM_siVrSQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1349/DSCN6924.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1349" data-original-width="1228" height="417" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0TmECDO55C0/YEqB9hrSPLI/AAAAAAAAUGI/nrgtJHfQqFEbn3DAFVswX-J1eM_siVrSQCNcBGAsYHQ/w379-h417/DSCN6924.JPG" width="379" /></a></div>One of the two at least was simply pained more or less as the singles sleeve, it's also a good representation of said artwork. Of course the detail not shown on the sleeve such as the back etc had to be added by the sculptor and I think they did a really good job of that.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--sUf6wKo_TM/YEqCh3ph1LI/AAAAAAAAUGQ/wB_Mw2pIBeEG0IzMm-4e0oRJPHhCNRr7wCNcBGAsYHQ/s1816/DSCN6856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1574" data-original-width="1816" height="331" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--sUf6wKo_TM/YEqCh3ph1LI/AAAAAAAAUGQ/wB_Mw2pIBeEG0IzMm-4e0oRJPHhCNRr7wCNcBGAsYHQ/w383-h331/DSCN6856.JPG" width="383" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The photo above gives you an idea just how big the figures are. It was great to get back to painting some of my 6mm Napoleonic's especially as I was working on Old Guard in both scales.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MI3ZLCJpC0c/YC5mR5hrsCI/AAAAAAAAUCA/W0YD-tq0DYcor6xSK63Q6o_4VNOcOYLdQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1527/DSCN6877.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1527" data-original-width="1492" height="419" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MI3ZLCJpC0c/YC5mR5hrsCI/AAAAAAAAUCA/W0YD-tq0DYcor6xSK63Q6o_4VNOcOYLdQCNcBGAsYHQ/w410-h419/DSCN6877.JPG" width="410" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">A bit of a difference in size, I have only a few French Guard units in 6mm, I don't even have a large number of castings in hand as Lee took care of most of them for our Waterloo game. I always planned to add them but in no real hurry so will be happy to get through more of the castings I own before buying more.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7atVnH5d8hM/YC5nAkjXFhI/AAAAAAAAUCI/0FU9dI4FWKgF7JWpP8ikpLH_2LKV8OaCwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1149/DSCN6863.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1149" data-original-width="629" height="508" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7atVnH5d8hM/YC5nAkjXFhI/AAAAAAAAUCI/0FU9dI4FWKgF7JWpP8ikpLH_2LKV8OaCwCNcBGAsYHQ/w278-h508/DSCN6863.JPG" width="278" /></a></div>The 75mm figure (over 90 to top of his bearskin) is from <a href="http://mitchesmilitarymodels.co.uk">mitchesmilitarymodels.co.uk</a> and they do a fair range of 75mm and 200mm figures and also busts of which I have already bought two. I am very tempted by the Hougoumont dio set which I will probably get at some point.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fZwpdgjsIcI/YC5oygMmDnI/AAAAAAAAUCU/6npSxiO6yFMwb_ba4kYgPqunWoyp69nUwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1157/DSCN6862.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1157" data-original-width="665" height="485" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fZwpdgjsIcI/YC5oygMmDnI/AAAAAAAAUCU/6npSxiO6yFMwb_ba4kYgPqunWoyp69nUwCNcBGAsYHQ/w279-h485/DSCN6862.JPG" width="279" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The kit is made of high quality resin and comes in about 15 parts, I had to paint them as parts rather than post assembly due to overlapping making it too difficult to paint made up. This is the first use of the Andrea white set, the effect I am pleased with for this old standard. The staff is also broken so I tried to represent this with rough painting of the staff.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6DmxO4038oc/YC5rTxofmjI/AAAAAAAAUCs/zirAfd-FFdAlAU6uePDSkzGVzsuRSD_WQCNcBGAsYHQ/s833/DSCN6865.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="833" data-original-width="442" height="561" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6DmxO4038oc/YC5rTxofmjI/AAAAAAAAUCs/zirAfd-FFdAlAU6uePDSkzGVzsuRSD_WQCNcBGAsYHQ/w298-h561/DSCN6865.JPG" width="298" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The backpack was mostly oils to get the mixed finish of cowhide but again the white set was used for the straps. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9TTx0fn1zfw/YC5r0x_HbBI/AAAAAAAAUC0/LqPwUNeQJwACHQKnzxK_of7yfOqNyxsFACNcBGAsYHQ/s545/DSCN6873.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="545" height="393" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9TTx0fn1zfw/YC5r0x_HbBI/AAAAAAAAUC0/LqPwUNeQJwACHQKnzxK_of7yfOqNyxsFACNcBGAsYHQ/w396-h393/DSCN6873.JPG" width="396" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">The greatcoat and trousers were Andrea blue set but I went a little darker base on the trousers being from different material and dies. This is the first 1/35 scale vehicle I have ever built and painted so I wanted something fairly simple.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyV59J_IH5SGlB_02wstHoTIJaQ8ObNv9TSi-dHWQjgNyHuboG4b07-gu0_CFnYnOatwdn_eTZR2kqoVA-q5w' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Tamiya have a reputation for producing a good balance between detail and assembly. Indeed I have noticed "they build themselves" more than a few times when reviewing others work. I have to admit it went together rather easily and the detail was good enough for me.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rC_i0xbO55U/YAlsF9qB7mI/AAAAAAAAT9c/Jt3XU4lnE3kAIdO55_qHf3rAWbJ4naklQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1392/DSCN6739.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1392" data-original-width="1115" height="451" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rC_i0xbO55U/YAlsF9qB7mI/AAAAAAAAT9c/Jt3XU4lnE3kAIdO55_qHf3rAWbJ4naklQCNcBGAsYHQ/w361-h451/DSCN6739.JPG" width="361" /></a></div>The kit comes with a fair amount of items to fill the carrier and many of these find their way into the model. The towing cable was a piece of string I painted grey black then used a piece of sponge to rub a mix of silver and oily steel onto the more raised parts. Quite chuffed with the finish. The decals that came with the kit gave me a fair choice and I went with the 3rd Infantry Brigade as that fits my choice of time and place.<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_xRIiKuH_8s/YAltCwTHn3I/AAAAAAAAT9o/fPMcpcYR1bA0MVWJTrzpx4WQkPUgBRgUwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1517/DSCN6740.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1192" data-original-width="1517" height="340" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_xRIiKuH_8s/YAltCwTHn3I/AAAAAAAAT9o/fPMcpcYR1bA0MVWJTrzpx4WQkPUgBRgUwCNcBGAsYHQ/w435-h340/DSCN6740.JPG" width="435" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I used a mix of pigments to create the dirt around the tracks and lower hull and splats over the whole hull. Mixing the pigments either with odourless oil paint thinner or for the thicker patches mat pigment </div><div><div style="text-align: justify;">binder. I wanted a dry look for the season though use of different binders can give a semi wet or wet finish.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eQk4AH2WINI/YAlvNJjk1AI/AAAAAAAAT98/uXQccgxp6Twm_GqG5burNBAyOVGWFJzJACNcBGAsYHQ/s1473/DSCN6758.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1239" data-original-width="1473" height="420" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eQk4AH2WINI/YAlvNJjk1AI/AAAAAAAAT98/uXQccgxp6Twm_GqG5burNBAyOVGWFJzJACNcBGAsYHQ/w501-h420/DSCN6758.JPG" width="501" /></a></div>I also used thinned oil paints to show dirt streaks gathering around and running off rivets and edged panels etc. I also added bare metal to areas than would see extra wear. I was restrained in this mostly but did a heavier effect on the interior as can be seen in the next image.<div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CTE8jV4SSiY/YAlu1FTMsqI/AAAAAAAAT90/SVxEuwiW3OAFapvfGAxyivySjNv1xHMmACNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DSCN6730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="363" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CTE8jV4SSiY/YAlu1FTMsqI/AAAAAAAAT90/SVxEuwiW3OAFapvfGAxyivySjNv1xHMmACNcBGAsYHQ/w483-h363/DSCN6730.JPG" width="483" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Whilst the kit comes with plenty of boxes and cans I wanted something different and found some resin additions that really fitted the on campaign look I wanted. The box of vegetables fits with the twin account details of French civilians showering troops with fruit and flowers and the trade that went off for fresh food against army chocolate and cigarettes. The rolled tarpaulin etc also are not quite drill book items.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--w7bla0tHWI/YAlxa0hwC4I/AAAAAAAAT-I/najCQkzAcE4bQuzRfQM9Jch2e9gm4V5XQCNcBGAsYHQ/s460/DSCN6742.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="460" data-original-width="314" height="440" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--w7bla0tHWI/YAlxa0hwC4I/AAAAAAAAT-I/najCQkzAcE4bQuzRfQM9Jch2e9gm4V5XQCNcBGAsYHQ/w300-h440/DSCN6742.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The backpack and helmet was also part of the set I just added a strap from a bit of a pop can. The wine bottle is a Meng product, just a transparent plastic I simply added a cork/wax </div><div style="text-align: justify;">top and label.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wEiAB5T5JcM/YAlyGlnPMOI/AAAAAAAAT-Q/8jrpNQAl6A4_h7qdUxcngr-fbBDjAe0rACNcBGAsYHQ/s204/DSCN6756%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="204" data-original-width="182" height="329" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wEiAB5T5JcM/YAlyGlnPMOI/AAAAAAAAT-Q/8jrpNQAl6A4_h7qdUxcngr-fbBDjAe0rACNcBGAsYHQ/w294-h329/DSCN6756%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="294" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">As you can see it makes a fairly effective bottle of wine. I found painting the carrier with an airbrush really helped generate different tones as I layered the different shades onto the model.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7pCwcABqUTo/YAlyk2sn19I/AAAAAAAAT-Y/qU4pUbJ2CNctkFRStqM10hff-9YHw1fCACNcBGAsYHQ/s580/DSCN6736%2B%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="571" data-original-width="580" height="388" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7pCwcABqUTo/YAlyk2sn19I/AAAAAAAAT-Y/qU4pUbJ2CNctkFRStqM10hff-9YHw1fCACNcBGAsYHQ/w394-h388/DSCN6736%2B%25282%2529.JPG" width="394" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I also added a tin strap to one of the helmets that is in the carrier. The crew are all wearing berets so I needed to add the helmets. Two came in the resin set attached to packs whilst this one came from a weapons pack I bought for such use.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sXfOqcrjvqQ/YAlzP6LDBYI/AAAAAAAAT-k/ncvXERAHd_kAITkHbY5sbarTmu5jr5sRQCNcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DSCN6764.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="336" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sXfOqcrjvqQ/YAlzP6LDBYI/AAAAAAAAT-k/ncvXERAHd_kAITkHbY5sbarTmu5jr5sRQCNcBGAsYHQ/w448-h336/DSCN6764.JPG" width="448" /></a></div>Crew all finished and their relaxed pose is just perfect for the scene I am trying to create. All told I think I took a little less than 30 hours from start to finish. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wa5tbNGJ5Ts/YAlz-IEOp7I/AAAAAAAAT-s/QF0GQu2TTrMieL-lz44GUYHpvhZiSJqhwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1575/DSCN6761.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1008" data-original-width="1575" height="269" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wa5tbNGJ5Ts/YAlz-IEOp7I/AAAAAAAAT-s/QF0GQu2TTrMieL-lz44GUYHpvhZiSJqhwCNcBGAsYHQ/w421-h269/DSCN6761.JPG" width="421" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have also painted up a dead German and off camera is a French civilian, one of two the diorama will eventually have. I am now part way through painting up the two British escorts and assembled the three German prisoners and French girl. I would say I am about two thirds of the way through the project though I am not really sure the amount of time the base will require. </div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p></div>Ianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17113835961977211021noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329903841574816313.post-87972416911279028642021-01-10T12:46:00.001+00:002021-01-10T12:46:09.426+00:00French Cuirassier With Captured British Standard. SOLD<p style="text-align: justify;"> I have not posted here for half a year now as I was unsure if I wanted to continue with the blog given my lack of wargaming and for some time it had been posting mostly just another painted unit similar to the one before and the one before that etc. However now I am actually painting up quite a few other items just for pleasure I think the blog still has some life in it. I will still do the occasional unit but for the most part it will be showcasing either my busts or diorama's. I will do some backward posts but mostly I will be posting new finishes. Not having loads of spare space I will be offering my work for sale. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Iv8UgOhVYgY/X_ryMCxQ6bI/AAAAAAAAT7w/UnEIsGS8Sn01pk6M9kFDgSdd3UcF3JylwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1617/DSCN6703.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1617" data-original-width="845" height="429" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Iv8UgOhVYgY/X_ryMCxQ6bI/AAAAAAAAT7w/UnEIsGS8Sn01pk6M9kFDgSdd3UcF3JylwCNcBGAsYHQ/w224-h429/DSCN6703.JPG" width="224" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The bust is supplied by CGS Military Figures as a high quality and detailed bust. They also do the option as full figure mounted on his horse, a very impressive looking model. It comes in just under 20 pieces that mostly have to painted before assembly.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MoK8uR-asuw/X_rzBPE2rwI/AAAAAAAAT74/b43OrTA19pslX7ThgJYLmu_pGxJ1XfBBwCNcBGAsYHQ/s1513/DSCN6704.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1513" data-original-width="1272" height="378" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MoK8uR-asuw/X_rzBPE2rwI/AAAAAAAAT74/b43OrTA19pslX7ThgJYLmu_pGxJ1XfBBwCNcBGAsYHQ/w318-h378/DSCN6704.JPG" width="318" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The standard was captured from the 2nd Battalion 69th Regiment (South Lincolnshire) of Foot at the battle of Quatre Bras. It was quite a challenge painting the Union that was just attached to the arm and was difficult to hold without rubbing the paint off. Good job I have a good supply of rubber gloves!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iVrcBRUNq3Y/X_r0FL3x8VI/AAAAAAAAT8E/2taNarwo5eQXcge6b9aprCIFbZApop7yACNcBGAsYHQ/s1465/DSCN6705.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1465" data-original-width="891" height="408" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iVrcBRUNq3Y/X_r0FL3x8VI/AAAAAAAAT8E/2taNarwo5eQXcge6b9aprCIFbZApop7yACNcBGAsYHQ/w249-h408/DSCN6705.JPG" width="249" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Keeping with the flag I exchanged the wire that comes with the kit for embroidery thread, painted it gold and soaked in glue adding the resin tassels once it was dry. I think it actually is a better finish.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-288vF_XReqM/X_r1BrSLqBI/AAAAAAAAT8Q/FW-L2OIgB9Myr4v3uL5bexxR-leji-UMQCNcBGAsYHQ/s1150/DSCN6713.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1150" data-original-width="883" height="416" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-288vF_XReqM/X_r1BrSLqBI/AAAAAAAAT8Q/FW-L2OIgB9Myr4v3uL5bexxR-leji-UMQCNcBGAsYHQ/w320-h416/DSCN6713.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">I used mostly Andrea Color paints but also a fair few Vallejo. I have started to build up a fair collection of Andrea paints with nine sets of six complimenting sets and their higher pigment concentration and the system of using them has really improved my standard of finish. I also used oils on the carbine to get a good woodgrain finish.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bLBY6L2qlqE/X_r1_Rf09DI/AAAAAAAAT8c/dLCzC0duBGgAB6W8bCnyFkmDgH61DP6ZQCNcBGAsYHQ/s830/DSCN6724.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="830" data-original-width="697" height="465" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bLBY6L2qlqE/X_r1_Rf09DI/AAAAAAAAT8c/dLCzC0duBGgAB6W8bCnyFkmDgH61DP6ZQCNcBGAsYHQ/w391-h465/DSCN6724.JPG" width="391" /></a></div>Next bust will be Napoleonic French cavalry again, this time a Hussar officer making use of a very generous present from Dave D, Scale 75 Green Colour set. Before that though I hope to finish my first 1/35 scale dio based around a bren carrier. <br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p></div></div>Ianhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17113835961977211021noreply@blogger.com13
