Analogue Painting Challenge Week Two and New Shiny Through the Post

More good progress on the figure painting front and I continue to paint above my target but how long that will continue I don't know. I have not painted at all in the last two days though but hope to fix that this afternoon.

I managed to finish two entries this week, the Prussians in time for Tuesday and forty eight 15mm Romans that will be presented on Tuesday. I should also get my bonus round figures also finished by then and be well on my way with figures from a new project but these won't make the deadline.

I got the trees over a week ago, the light green ons may need a little toning down whilst the darker ones are the same as the originals. Really happy with the service and price, got to get the more round ones next.

I also got myself a few Baccus figures. The last three new French Napoleonic cavalry just one unit of each so I can paint them up so I have all the new French, see what I do for you guys?

I also got some Ancient command figures and peltasts that will allow me to work on a number of bases for the Hail Caesar side project that I hope to drag either Lee or Matt into.

Another Tree Post

I am guessing the title kind of says it all. You probably know I bought 20 trees the other week for much-o-cheap-o which arrived last week. Well whilst they looked good for the price which in itself really means thy don't actually look good. I did think I could make them look better and more importantly could do so without too much effort.

So I took said cheap tree and sprayed with er... hairspray and dipped in flock that I used to base my figures with. The result being the two held in my vice. Time taken? About 10 seconds each on average as the vice was tricky to get two in.

Finding a more suitable holding device I got the upgrade down to about 10 seconds a tree. I still have half of them to do so will probably finish them tonight. I have ordered another 40 so I had better get on with it.

Being as I am not painting any figures at the moment I have been busy doing other things this is one of several tiles I am working on for building of the week.

Cath was asking why stop myself painting figures at the moment and I had to explain that I would find myself trying to hurry to finish them before Friday and as such not enjoy it but by painting these buildings which I can put aside and just pick up between bouts of figure painting and enjoy all that I do means I win all ways round. Besides I don't have that much desk time this week anyway.

Popular's in all scales

I needed some Popular trees for my Hougoumont setting, these will go on a separate board that will run along side the complex opposite to the ornate gardens and these seemed to good to be true.

Well they are reasonable and excellent for the price costing me just £2.99 for all twenty and the 15 not used on the base (I need more of the small ones) will get based up and used in 15, 20 and 28mm gaming.

How they can make it pay when they are posted from China I just don't know. You can find them on ebay here. Not sure if they are available to other countries but I would expect so, especially if your closer than we are.
