So far I have just played the one game of Hail Caesar and it was enough for me to start looking out for a cheep copy and as seems to often be the case these days I found one of Amazon Marketplace. This new copy cost me a little over £15 plus postage and it's in perfect condition so a bargain in my eyes.
Having ordered the rules I then find out that Matt bought a set at Castle Donnington so I have another opportunity to play them outside the Thursday games at Kev's. I am not ready to consign the Field of Glory rules to past tense and will need to play a lot more games of both (hint Lee and Matt) but either way I am fairly sure I will be going down the route of these for the 6mm ancients due to the ability to have single base of units and Impetus did not float my boat.
Of course now I have the rules Kev and co have moved onto Black Powder for Napoleonic's which is what we played last night. Given that it was cracking fun I can find it in myself to forgive them LOL.
I will do a report on the game sometime over the weekend though the images are very own perspective as I just concentrated on my own troops.
Other news is that I will be taking part in the 5th Analogue Pinting Challenge and have set a personal target of 1000 points but this time the main concentration will be 15mm as I get the Romans painted up as well as getting the rest of my Persian and Successors armies finished off in 15mm, well the figures I have at least.
Good score Ian!
ReplyDeleteI think your right Roger, rather pleased with myself

Good set of rules, at least the WSS variant "Hail Agrippa" (Roman sea battles) is anyway. Real bargain you've got there too and looking forward to seeing a fellow Analogue Painting Challenger post up them points; especially when they're twice my target :-)
ReplyDeleteIt may be that your target is more reasonable, but lets see how we do

Have fun with these Ian!
ReplyDeleteI think I will. Another set of rules for a different scale, what more could one need

Don't get me wrong, I am happy to stay with Black Powder for some time yet, got a lot to learn about them.
ReplyDeleteJust happy to be playing.
